Denise Watts – Meet the Artist

A little textile inspiration from my YouTube Textile Collection. Today it features the contemporary bobbin lace of Denise Watts.

Denise hand crafts each paper mâché doll. She then embellishes them in turn, with hand embroidery, vintage cloth & handmade bobbin lace.

Her current collection of work is called “The Little Woman”. It touches on the issues, emotions and traumas that women have experienced throughout history.

Meet the Artist – Elle Foreman

A little textile inspiration from my YouTube Textile Collection. Today it features the Mark Making of Elle Foreman.

Have you thought about how to use mark making to create cloth?
Elle Foreman uses mark-making, printing & mixed-media processes to create her own cloth – from up-cycled and pre-loved fabrics – before embellishing it with hand & machine embroidery.

Elle received an The Embroiderers’ Guild – UK Graduate Award 2019.

‘The strengths and uniqueness of British contemporary embroidery is due to the fact that it is founded on drawing.‘ Diana Springall.
