Hannah Lamb – Meet the Artist

A little textile inspiration from my YouTube ‘Meet the Artist’ Collection. Today it features the work of textile artist Hannah Lamb.

Hannah Lamb is a textile artist, lecturer & author, based in West Yorkshire. She works with a range of textile processes, including stitch, print & fabric manipulation, creating textile artworks from an intimate scale to larger installation works.

Her creative practice focusses on recording a sense of place through careful observation & material investigation.

Poetic Cloth Book

Hannah Lamb gained a BA (Hons.) Embroidery (2001) and MA Textiles (2010) from Manchester Metropolitan University. She has lectured in embroidery and design at Bradford School of Art (Bradford College) since 2004, where she is currently Programme Leader for Textiles. Hannah exhibits nationally and internationally and is an exhibiting member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists.

Textile Study Group – INSIGHTS Exhibition

A little textile inspiration from the Arnold’s Attic YouTube Collection. Today it features the INSIGHTS Exhibition created by members of The Textile Study Group.

In this video Mandy Pattullo, Alice Fox and fellow artists, guide us through the contemporary embroidered art in the INSIGHTS Exhibition and share the stories behind the work.

The Textile Study Group was originally established in 1973 to promote a high standard of design in stitched textiles & the teaching of embroidery – members’ work is varied in the themes addressed & techniques employed – hand stitch, machine stitch, quilting, constructed textiles, pieced textiles, lace-making, mixed-media, sketchbooks & drawing, print, dye, in both two and three dimensions.

Fronteer Open 2021

I’m pleased to announce that ‘Moors of Home’ has been selected by the Fronteer Gallery for the ‘Fronteer Open 2021’.

Earlier this year the piece was also jury selected for the ‘In the Open’ Exhibition at Ryedale Folk Museum.

“Fronteer’s founders Michael Borkowsky and Sharon Mossbeck have been collaborating on exhibitions, events and open calls since 2014. They aim to provide an inclusive and supportive exhibition platform for all artists, and they also aim to establish regular events and workshops. The Fronteer Open in an annual art prize and exhibition for UK based artists. The open call has no theme and artists can submit work on any subject they like. There is a prize for Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice, bothof which consist of £100 cash and a one year Artist Membership on the Curatorspace website. The exhibition will run for two weeks in December 2021, at Yorkshire Artspace’s Exchange Place Studio, Sheffield. The exhibition will run from 3rd – 11th December, open 4 days a week. ” Fronteer Gallery.
