Sheila Frampton Cooper – Meet the Artist

A little textile inspiration from my YouTube ‘Meet the Artist’ Collection. Today it features bold, free-form quilts of textile artist, Sheila Frampton Cooper.

Sheila’s colourful improv artworks have won awards at major quilt shows, including: IQA World of Beauty in Houston, AQS Show in Paducah and Road to California.

In this video Sheila shares her artworks and explains her applique and improv techniques.

Bound: Part 1

For generations women have been bound to the home and a life of domesticity. This piece is a celebration of the tools of their trade. Beautiful Skyline products manufactured in the Lancashire town of Burnley, well-worn wooden spoons and unusual utensils. Each piece tells a story through the imperfections, scars and dents it has collected through use. Artwork is mounted onto a cotton tea-towel woven in Quarry Bank Mill . Size 31 x 38 cm. Vintage kitchen utensils, hand bound with vintage crochet and Sylko threads.

Liberty Quilt Book by Jenni Smith

A little textile inspiration from my YouTube ‘Meet the Artist’ Collection. Today it features beautiful Liberty of London quilts by author and quilter, Jenni Smith.

Jennie walks us through her stunning exhibition and shares the stories behind some of the patchwork designs featured in her new book. ‘Quilting with Liberty Fabrics’ Book is the product of years of work and is published by US publisher Lucky Spool.

Jennie is a textile artist, tutor & author. Her studio is based in a historic mill on the edge of Ilkley Moor in the North of England.
