Vintage heaven in Brighton

A must every year, is a trip to Brighton – I love the place. Sun, sea, sand, shopping….

I always start the morning in The Lanes with such good intentions of spending the afternoon on the front, but inevitably my ‘rummaging and shopping’ inner self takes over and I eventually hobble to the beach early evening accompanied by a large portion of Fish & Chips…. a very good day.
First of all a flavour of The Lanes… vintage and eclectic heaven.

The V & A London & the wonders of the “Members’ Room”

only Room. My trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, was brilliant, as always. Every time I go, I wonder why I don’t go more often – it is a warren full of rooms of delight.

Members’ Room

Me and my chum started our day with a visit to the mysterious V & A Members’ Only Room which was hidden on level 4 in the glass exhibition.

The lounge was light, spacious and airy, and we had two attendants to ourselves serving refreshments, lots of wonderful sofas to sit on and huge exhibition books to browse through,  I felt very decadent sitting there having my cream tea.

Art in Action 2014

Art in Action is a four day event that showcases the talents of professional artists in marquees dedicated to their chosen genre of work.

My favourite marquees to visit are always ‘Textiles’, ‘Illustration & Calligraphy’, the ‘Market’ where goodies are for sale and this year another favourite of mine was the ‘War Artists’.

Other forms of crafts are demonstrated too, including painting, ceramics, wood, glass, silverware and jewelry.

As usual, I spend the best part of the morning in the Textiles tent.
